VAC Update: Visa Application Centers are Reopening in India

The moment is here! After a long wait throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian government has announced that they are opening Visa Application Centers (VACs) in India. The services will resume tomorrow, November 20th, 2020. The government stated that they will schedule limited biometrics appointments in Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mumbai, Ahemdabad, and Bangaluru.

The priority will be given to international students and family class applicants. The government will not be accepting walk-ins at the VACs. Appointments must be booked in advance. If Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada has issued a Biometrics Instructions Letter (BIL) to you, you will receive more instructions via email about how to schedule your appointment.

The government assessed all of their centers on a weekly basis to assess which ones are safe for reopening. More appointments will gradually become available as the services are phased in.
