SYNOPSIS OF INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE CLASS.

International Experience Class (IEC) allows young people from around the world to gain valuable work experience in Canada while also exploring the country's culture and way of life. This program is designed for individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 who meet certain eligibility requirements.

Participants in the IEC program can choose from one of three participating categories: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, or International Co-op.

Working Holiday

The Working Holiday provides a flexible, adventurous employment opportunity allowing individuals to work for multiple employers, explore diverse cultures and landscapes, and earn while traveling, without needing a pre-arranged job.

The Young Professionals offers a pathway for professional development in Canada through a paid, non-self-employed job with a single employer that aligns with NOC 0, 1, 2, or 3 and adheres to provincial labor laws.

The International Co-op (Internship) allows post-secondary students to gain field-specific experience through a mandatory internship in Canada that requires a commitment to one employer and location, ensuring a beneficial professional experience.

International Experience Class Application

If you hold citizenship of a country that has a bilateral agreement with Canada under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, you may qualify to apply for one or more of the three categories: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op (Internship).

However, if your country of citizenship is not an IEC partner, there is still a pathway for application. You may be able to apply through a Recognized Organization (RO), which are Canadian-based entities, authorized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to help people from non-partner countries participate in IEC.
