Exciting News for the Parents and Grandparents Program 2024
WHAT IS THE SUPER VISA?
The Super Visa program is a significant provision by the Canadian government that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit their family in Canada for up to two years at a time. This multiple-entry visa is distinct from standard visitor visas, offering the advantage of an extended stay upon initial entry into the country.
Eligibility for the Super Visa program extends to parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the stipulation that applicants must apply from outside Canada. The Super Visa has been beneficial to families as it provides an opportunity for prolonged familial bonding without the need for frequent visa renewals.
While the Super Visa is a temporary provision, it can still serve as a stepping stone toward obtaining a Canadian Permanent Residency (PR). Parents or grandparents who are already in Canada on a Super Visa can explore options to apply for a Canadian PR, thereby allowing them to permanently reside in the country.

With a super visa, eligible individuals can stay in Canada for up to two years at a time, whereas regular visitor visas only allow for stays of up to six months.
Super visa holders have the option to enter and exit Canada multiple times during the validity of their visa, making it easier to visit family and loved ones.
Super Visa holders are entitled to live, travel, and explore the country for up to two years per entry without the need for renewal. They can spend quality time with their children or grandchildren, explore Canada's natural beauty, experience its vibrant culture, and participate in family events and occasions. However, they are not permitted to work in Canada.
