PARENT & GRANDPARENT SPONSORSHIP PATHWAYS.
The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residence.
The program aims to reunite families by giving them the opportunity to live together in Canada.

To sponsor your parents or grandparents you must be at least:

At least 18 years old

A citizen or permanent resident of Canada or a registered Indian in the Canadian Indian Act

Prove that you are not benefiting from social assistance unless for the reason of disability

Financially capable to support and provide for yourself, your spouse, and even your spouse’s dependent children’s basic needs if applicable

By utilizing the Parents and Grandparents program to sponsor your parents or grandparents, they will be instantly granted permanent resident status.
They can live, work, or study anywhere in Canada, and they receive most social benefits that Canadian citizens receive, including health care coverage. They are also protected under Canadian law and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
By utilizing the Parents and Grandparents program, your parents or grandparents have the opportunity to pursue Canadian citizenship. This is contingent upon the successful approval of the sponsorship application and the fulfillment of eligibility requirements as outlined by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency in Canada.
This program aims to reunite families by enabling eligible sponsors to bring their loved ones closer to them, allowing them to build a life together in Canada.

Minimum Necessary Income
Sponsoring your parents and grandparents comes with significant financial responsibilities. You must meet a minimum income requirement for three consecutive taxation years before submitting your application. This amount varies based on the number of people you are sponsoring and their dependents.

Sponsoring your Parents or Grandparents in Quebec
In order to sponsor your parents and grandparents in Quebec, you must be:

At least 18 years old

A Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Quebec

Have enough income to support them financially.

Prove that you can provide for their basic needs, such as food, shelter, and clothing.
Thus, you cannot sponsor anyone if you are currently receiving social assistance from the government of Quebec.

The processing time for sponsoring parents and grandparents depends on the volume of applications received each year and where you will be settling in Canada.
In Quebec: It can take up to 46 months
Outside Quebec: It can take up to 21 months
